Disable Caps Lock Key in Windows Vista

Since computers have been made, there has always been the caps lock enabled as an option.  Whether to yell at someone or to simply point out an item, its purpose was rather clear.  It also could have been a quick way of avoiding the shift key but that’s generally not the case.  Due to the Caps not being really needed or a necessity anymore, then there is a way to actually disable it.  To get to the point on what to do, just go to the end of this and you will see what you need to do in order to take care of this situation.  It will explained a little bit in shorter words through the registry edit files.

Windows has never developed a default value for the caps key to be disabled.  What needs to be done however is re-map the item in particular to something that doesn’t exist so that it can be disabled.

Follow this format below right down to the exact degree.  Make note of the colors.

00000000 00000000 0200000000 00003A00 00000000

-The 1st 16 0’s don’t mean anything as there are rather just there for show.
-See the “02” in bold.  It represents how many keys need to be remapped plus 1.
-The 4 Orange-bolded 0’s represent the key you wish to reroute to, in this case 0.
-In what looks to be a Blue bolded symbols, 3A00 represents the caps locking key.
-The last 8 0’s actually don’t mean anything and are rather useless.

If you want to, you could map the items between 02 and then add another colorful bold right in the middle.  The 3A00 is actually the scan mode that is in the mix.  If you wish to disable the caps lock key and then scroll locks into a caps lock key, then follow this key below.

00000000 00000000 0300000000 00003A00 3A004600 00000000
